The Cambodian Center for Regional Studies (CCRS) wishes to express deepest condolences on the departed and beloved colleague and dear friend, Ms. Gwen Robinson.
I, as well as many of the top CCRS executive officers, have come to know Ms. Gwen Robinson through her unique ability to foster a networking spirit among think tanker in Southeast Asia which derived from a far deeper friendship and the willingness to promote the role of independent think tank in Cambodia.
When I was the Executive Director of the Cambodian Institute for Cooperation and Peace from 2013 to 2023, she voluntarily served as Visiting Senior Research Fellow to CICP since 2019 to 2023. Gwen devoted her diehard energy to assist CICP’s multi-task activities, including organizing major conferences, assuming speaker roles at numerous CICP events, and served as one member of the editors of the CICP flagship publication – the Journal of Greater Mekong Studies. She brought a wealth of ideas, insight, and a tireless spirit of independent thinker to Cambodian researchers, including myself. She has been regarded as top-tier opinion piece writers and possessed deep understanding of the region, including Cambodia.
To me, Ms. Gwen Robinson had been a close friend who share my preoccupation as concern observers of ASEAN relevance, regional stability, and Cambodia’s development process.
Gwen’s relentless energy, brilliant intelligence, kindness, and easy-going personality will forever remain in my heart and those young Cambodian researchers who have come into contact with her.
CCRS wishes to remember her dedication and her triple A standard of being independent think tanker. She will be sorely missed and we will keep her in our heart and mind. Sayonara, Gwen, please rest in eternal peace.
