From 21-22 October 2025, in Shanghai, China, Mr. Him Raksmey, Executive Director of the Cambodian Center for Regional Studies (CCRS), was invited to attend a Forum on “Forging ahead towards a Community with a Shared Future: The ASEAN-China Comprehensive Strategic Partnership”, co-organized by China Foreign Affairs University (CFAU), and the Center for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS) Indonesia. The meeting was attended by more than 100 participants ranging from government officials, regional experts, and scholars from ASEAN and China to discuss constructive and concrete ways to enhance ASEAN-China Comprehensive Strategic Partnership. This event was a part of the 23rd Conference on International Exchange of Professionals (CIEP), supported by China’s Ministry of Human Resources and Social Security.
During the forum, Raksmey was invited to speak in a focused session on Political and Security Cooperation: Confidence-Building in an Era of Global Turbulence. He discussed the contexts of ASEAN-China relations, trends, challenges, prospects and ways to enhance ASEAN-China security cooperation. He said that a more active security cooperation between ASEAN and China would not only be positive the overall trajectory of relations between both sides, but would also contribute importantly to regional peace, stability and prosperity.
The CFAU-CSIS forum was a productive meeting. There were many interesting and insightful exchanges of views on how to deepen the relations between ASEAN and China to make their comprehensive strategic partnership more meaningful and substantive, particularly in enhancing trust, utilizing and expanding existing cooperation mechanisms, and constructively working together addressing challenges of mutual concerns.
In addition, from 23-25 October 2025, Raksmey also took part in a field trip to Wuxi City, Jiangsu Province, organized by CFAU. It was a meaningful and educational trip covering visits to numerous China’s leading software companies based in Wuxi, working on Quality Control (QC), streamlining supply chains, and assembly lining systems. Wuxi is a beautiful and advanced Chinese city. It has modern industrial bases, and prioritizes research and development, especially on high-end software, and supply chains sectors.
