Statement by the Cambodian Center for Regional Studies (CCRS) on Cambodia-Thailand Ceasefire Agreement 27 December 2025

The Cambodian Center for Regional Studies (CCRS) wholeheartedly supports the Joint Statement of the 3rd Special General Border Committee (GBC) signed today between Cambodia and Thailand at Prum, Pailin – Ban Pak Kard, Chanthaburi International Checkpoint with the participation of the ASEAN Observer Team (AOT) as observer, culminating a ceasefire agreement at 12:00pm today (local time).

This immediate cessation of armed hostilities heralds a new dawn of peace and stability at the border, allowing Cambodia and Thailand to work their way back to normalcy, reinstating the excellent bilateral relations existed pre-28 May and allowing the huge displaced persons to return to their home with safety and happiness.

CCRS expresses unreserved support to the Royal Government of Cambodia’s commitment towards this immediate ceasefire with Thailand. We place full confidence with our government in the use of peaceful resolution to end this tragic conflict with Thailand.

We express our sincere appreciation to all friendly countries for their relentless support, especially ASEAN, the US and China for standing behind the non-use of force to settle this dispute.

The ceasefire agreement today owes profoundly to the wisdom towards peace between leaders of Cambodia and Thailand.

We can now look forward to faithful implementation of the peace processes agreed between the two countries under the Kuala Lumpur Peace Accord, and embark upon the reconciliation and normalization between the two neighboring nations.

CCRS calls on the continuation of the international community to lend support for an effective monitoring to ensure effective implementation of this ceasefire agreement to end the war and restore peace to both Cambodia and Thailand.
