The Cambodian Center for Regional Studies (CCRS) would like to extend our deepest gratitude to Honorable Donald J. Trump, President of the United States of America, for brokering a much-needed ceasefire between Cambodia and Thailand regarding the outbreak of the tragic armed clashes that have taken place since 24 July 2025. The US President’s mediating effort is timely and truly meaningful in stopping further hostilities and the loss of lives of innocent people.
All Cambodians rejoice the excellent news. CCRS views the US President’s initiative as a fundamental first step towards peaceful dispute settlements to end the current armed conflict between Cambodia and Thailand. The ceasefire, once it is entered into force and effectively enforced, would pave ways for dialogue and diplomacy to take effects for peaceful solutions to the border disputes between Cambodia and Thailand.
We earnestly hope that the ceasefire can be fully implemented as soon as possible to put an end to this dangerous conflict and help save lives of civilians and soldiers, as well as restore the much-anticipated peace and stability between the two Kingdoms and the whole Southeast Asian region.
