The Cambodian Center for Regional Studies (CCRS) will organize Public Lecture on “Revolutionising Climate Action: Empowering Young Changemakers through Social Entrepreneurship, Inclusive Business and Market Systems Development”, by Distinguished Speaker, Prof. Thuta Aung, Inclusive Business Development Expert, on Tuesday, 05 March 2024, from 2:30pm to 5:00pm, at AmCam Exchange, located at the 1st Floor of Exchange Square.

Climate change has evolved into an all-encompassing or “wicked” problem, impacting our daily lives. Furthermore, it is something to which we can all collectively contribute in crafting solutions—solutions that could prove beneficial for changemakers. During this public lecture, our distinguished speaker, Professor Thuta Aung will share his insights and practical experiences gained from nearly two decades of working in international development, academia (focusing on social enterprise), and entrepreneurship promotion.

About the Eminent Role Players:
Prof. Thuta Aung is a dedicated educator, think-tanker, and social entrepreneur. He brings a wealth of experience in policymaking, collaborating with diverse stakeholders to draft new policies. His expertise extends to nurturing startups through business incubation programs, resulting in the successful launch of over a dozen ventures. Additionally, he has effectively managed donor-funded initiatives for poverty reduction through inclusive business. Thuta’s current research interests span across various fields, including climate change, social entrepreneurship, nation branding, and promoting fair competition. He pursued his doctoral studies at Durham University, benefiting from scholarships and fellowships from the UK. Thuta further honed his skills through executive education as part of the ASEAN Young Business Leaders Initiative funded by the Asia New Zealand Foundation. He is also a Fellow of the RSA.

Ambassador Pou Sothirak is a retired academic currently serving as the Distinguished Senior Advisor to the Cambodian Center for Regional Studies (CCRS). He was the Executive Director of the Cambodian Institute for Cooperation and Peace from May 2013 to August 2023. He was appointed as Secretary of State of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of Cambodia from September 2013 to January 2014. He was a Visiting Senior Research Fellow at the Institute of the Southeast Asian Studies (ISEAS) in Singapore from January 2009 to December 2012. He also served as Cambodian Ambassador to Japan from April 2005 to November 2008. He was elected Cambodian Member of Parliaments twice during the national general election in 1993 and 2003. He was appointed as Minister of Industry Mines and Energy of the Royal Government of Cambodia from 1993 to 1998. He has written extensively on various issues concerning the development of Cambodia and the region.
